I was trying to come up with a dining table, and was racking my mind to find something revolutionary instead of merely evolutionary: we wanted something different, something with a real design style that would allow for extreme customization of your outdoor space.
I remembered living in Arizona, and seeing these triangular, fabric shapes that formed shade at public parks and schools. This got me thinking: if this works for architecture, why can't we adapt this to furniture? After the first few sketches, we realized we had something fresh and new.
There were many design and engineering hurdles to overcome, but we were able to pull this product through the development cycle and came up with an idea that really got our clients excited. Thus the shade sail was born.
